| SONAL SHAH MUST RESIGN FROM MR. OBAMA’S TRANSITIOANL TEAM
Ms. Sonal Shah is a smart and extremely intelligent person. She has invested so much in the political process through the Democratic Party. It is her proud achievement to make it to the transitional team of Mr. Obama. She deserves it, she worked hard for it. We have no intention of ruining it for her.
But she should resign honorably from the president-elect Obama’s transitional team until she clarifies her relationship, past and present, with the Vishva Hindu Parishad. Did she condemn VHP’s atrocities against Christians in Orissa? What is her position on the destruction of the Muslim mosque in Aodya? Is she aware that by being a member of the VHP she is an accomplice to Sangh’s efforts to bring the outdated four caste system and untouchability as evidenced in the Orissa event in which the Sangh wanted to reconvert Christians to untouchability? Does she know that she was the national chair of an organization that was banned twice since Indian independence? She cannot be part of the transitional team of Mr. Obama who suffered to defeat racism only to tolerate castism, the mother of racism. Mr. Obama’s effort to include Hindus should be applauded. But VHP a Hindutva group represents a caste ideology which is alien to genuine Hinduism. Ms. Shah must disavow this organization and stay with the transitional team.
