We strongly condemn the detention of Indian superstar
Mr. Shah Rukh Khan at the White Plains airport on his arrival to attend an
event at Yale University. We believe it is a racial profiling. We regret that
the U.S. immigration and Customs authorities did not clear his name when
he was detained once before by mistake and for which U.S. authorities
apologized. Why didn't they remove his name at that time after they found out
it was a mistake? The bureaucratic inefficiency and careless execution of the
process made them to humiliate Mr. Khan for the second time. This is an insult
to India. This is absolutely unacceptable. We think the persons responsible for
this incident must be fired and all racial profiling must be stopped. We recall
the former president of India, Mr. Abdul Kalam was detained. A former defence
minister of India, Mr. George Fernandes was detained once. Detaining innocent
passengers must end.
